OSU hockey crap

Since coming back from holiday break, goaltender Dave Caruso has given up 13 goals in 11 games. He is 4-5-2 in those games.

Such is the state of the Ohio State offense. Caruso is getting no scoring help.

The team had another injury last weekend. Forward Mathieu Beaudoin broke his wrist and is out indefinitely. If Zach Pellitier can't play, the Buckeyes will be playing in Michigan with a short roster.

Gut check time. Do they show up and score some goals, or fall apart at Yost? I just hope third string back up Lauderdale doesn't see ice time at Michigan. Could be very ugly.

Doesn't get easier after this weekend. Thursday night against Michigan State. Saturday outside at Green Bay vs. Wisconsin. Then to Miami next Tuesday to play the number one Redhawks. Then two games at home against the very tough Bulldogs of Ferris State. They finish the season at Marquette againt Northern Michigan.

They'll be lucky to get six points in the next nine games.

more hockey talk

The Olympics start next weekend. Sure, many know about the U.S. and Canadian hockey teams, or the tough Czech and Swede squads.

But no one is talking about team Italy, the hosts.

Sure, they're a longshot to medal but two of their guys played for Ohio State. Andre Signoretti played three and a half years for the Buckeyes. He was one fine defenseman, nice kid - too bad he forgot to go to class. Carter Trevasani played for a half year with the team before deciding college life wasn't for him ans it was back to the Canadain junior league.

Tuzzolini played for Michigan State I beleive.

So, I'll be watching the Italian team and hope Siggy gets some points.

Right now it's Michigan 4, Ohio State 3 after two periods. Ohio State has scored two golas on its last 61 power plays. Bad Bad Bad.
