Aug. 7th, 2005 12:02 amFinally finished the latest Elizabeth George book "With No One As A Witness". This is the first in the Lynley/Havers series that I've read. Have to admit I only read it because of the contraversy about the ending.
Having not been familiar with the dynamic, it took me a bit to fill in some of the gaps and relationships that had been forged in George's previous books. The first 300 pages were very slow moving and plodded along, just like real searching for a serilal killer though. The pacing could have been quicker. The book was actually putting me to sleep at night.
The last 100 pages raced though, as George skillfully tosses in humor, plot twists and red herrings into the mix. I found the end very sad, but fair. Her characters have some serious challenges in the future. I'll be tuning in.
