And tonight the number was 4-4-1 and I took home the Writers Block door prize for the first time. I got some notecards and a journal that my wife snapped up once she saw them. They're gone, I have no idea where they are now. Oh well!
The upswing continues. It was fun. I snorted. Maranda had the line of the month for a product that, well, being a gentleman I will not name. It will be brought up, in tones that are not hushed, for years. Joanna looked nice, that's all I'm gonna say. There were virgins, a poet slumming it while on tour, an English gal in the crowd - and boy does Scott do a horrible accent.
I read two new ones. The first was already planned. I read the confessional, a 'mildly shocking' admission of shoe love. I was going to read the revised Isotopes, but Rose wasn't there and since she helped edit it, I wanted her there. So I read a new poem called Pink Guitar Trigger that I wrote today.
Dave showed up. Still going strong after road tripping it from Indianapolis today. I hope he takes his vitamins and gets some rest. I'm just sayin'
My son's new thing is to lift up the toilet seat and slam it down. Makes a nice bang when you're sitting down here.
Oh, and this. I guess they're throwing a party for me at work tomorrow. I was talking with a couple of coworkers and one asked when my last day was. told him Friday. he then said a couple of other things then asked if I would be at my party on Thursday.
Um....
The guy sitting next to him just put his head in his hands and shook his head.
All I said was, "That was brilliant, Dude" and walked away.
It's really hard to put one over on me, especially when you telegraph the surprise a day in advance.
