just cleared out three big bags full of crud, leaves and debris from the backyard. Also pruned down the rosebush in front to nubs that stick out alot. I'm not big on this landscaping thing.

Big game between Denver and North Dakota tonight. I'm not even going to make a prediction since I have not been correct about most games this year.

Failed to mention that OSU coach Markell was given a five year extension. This is a very good thing. The program is moving forward there's a scary good nuclues of talent for the next two seasons. Now, if his assistant Casey Jones were to leave, that would be cause for concern.

Looking ahead. Next year's frozen four is in Milwaukee. I love that city, and it's drinking establishments. After that it's St. Louis, not exactly a hotbed of college hockey, but that's a city I'd like to visit at least once, if only for the bowling hall of fame. Might have to think about that road trip.

I have enjoyed this mini-vacation immensely. back to work tomorrow. Still have not finished The Cave. So dull, and badly translated. The lengthy paragraphs are mind numbing.

game over

None of the teams I rooted for won.

Denver is a repeat as champions as they beat North Dakota 4-2. Denver goalie Peter Mannino was incredible in net and was the tournament MVP. The Sioux couldn't stay out of the penalty box and the Pioneers scored two power play goals.

A great game and very good tournament. OSU did a great job in preseting the rink and city to the rest of the college hockey community.

Two hitches were tonight when the glass on the sides fell in the first period. Who put the damn building togethor?

And, something happened that I've never seen in a hockey game. While scuffling in the crease play stopped and the North Dakota player took a drink from the Denver goalie's water bottle. Funny stuff.

Saw Luc Richardson and Ed Belfour in the crowd. J.P Parise was there also, his son is the North Dakota goalie. Also ran into the Ohio State assistant coaches Steve Brent and Casey Jones. Steve said hey and talked to me for a few seconds. I wear his game worn jersey to the games, you see.

Guy sitting behind me says, "That's Steve Brent's jersey you're wearing."

"Yes, it is."

"He coached my son when he played here. He was the one coach you could talk to."

I asked him who his son was. He was a very good player for the team a couple of years back.

Dad wanted to go off on the current coaching staff, but, probably because I was wearing the jersey of the assistant coach, he held back.

Nothing I haven't heard before.

To your relief, this ends the main portion of the hockey posts in this blog. Until September :)

I'm sure I'll rant about the NHL's lack of ability to get a collective bargaining agreement and it's attempt to get more fans in the game by painting the ice blue and other stupid marketing.

It was a heck of a season.
